To complement the development of the port in the city of Al Duqm about 550km to the south of the Muscat Capital Area, as well as to boost tourism in the region, the Ministry of Transport and Communications intends to develop the proposed Al Duqm Airport.
The Consultancy Services Contract for the Study and Design of the Airport was awarded by the Ministry to Parsons in March 2005. The project involves the development of a Conceptual Master Plan for the airport, and the detailed design and tender documents for the runways, aprons, navigational aids, and lighting.
